Moussaka is a typical dish of the Mediterranean diet.



2 eggplants, sliced ??thin

1 lb. (453g) veal

14 oz. (4OOg) chopped tomatoes

10 fl oz. (3OOml) yogurt to natural

1 clove garlic, finely chopped

1,5 fl oz. (3 tablespoons) extra virgin olive oil

1 onion, finely chopped

Salt, oregano, pepper

2 eggs

1 tablespoon of grated cheese


Cut the veal into thin slices. Put in a large frying pan and cook for 5 - 8 minutes.

Add the chopped onion and garlic and fry until golden brown for 5 minutes.

Add the tomatoes, salt and pepper, bring to a boil and cook until tender 2O minutes.

In the pan fry the eggplant in oil on both sides and put in bowl.

Put half of the eggplant slices in a single layer on the bottom of a baking dish, pour over the sauce' meat and place the next layer of eggplant.

Beat the eggs in a bowl and then add the yogurt, season with salt, oregano and pepper. Pour the mixture over the eggplant.

Sprinkle with grated cheese and cook in the oven at 350 F (18O C) for 45 minutes.

Serve directly from the baking dish.
